Bernie Ecclestone has been in court these days, after another attempt to blackmail the billionaire was foiled.
A 41-year old dental technician, Martin Peckham, thought he had come up with the crime of the century. Blackmailing one of Britain´s richest men, Bernie Ecclestone, threatening that he had kidnapped Tamara Ecclestone, one of Bernie´s daughters. And the total sum the blackmailer demanded? £200,000. The idiot explained that he came up with the idea after hearing about a similar scam but instead of receiving a bag full of money, Peckham´s brilliant plan was foiled by Ecclestone himself, who simply called the police and explained what had happened. Peckham was arrested and pleaded guilty on Tuesday. It is expected that the judge will send Peckham to jail for a long time.
This is not the first blackmail attempt against the Ecclestone´s. Tamara gave evidence in February, when two men demanded also £200,000 for not revealing intimate details about her and Omar Khyami´s sexlife.
On the recent blackmail attempt, the prosecutor said:
“Amateurish it might have been, but it was a targeted offence. The family is vulnerable and Mr Ecclestone took it seriously.”
