Helmut Marko, doing the rounds on the internet as the fuzzy old uncle no one care to invite but has to, is now targeting Mark Webber. And the broadside Marko deliver, is far more negative than the recent rant against Fernando Alonso.
Ok, so it´s one thing to complain about, how Red Bull wasn´t able to secure the services of Fernando Alonso, but it is quite another to slam your own driver!
A few days ago, Helmut Marko, the Red Bull advisor to owner Dietrich Mateschitz, said that Fernando Alonso was too involved in politics to concentrate fully on the 2012 championship, and now he delivers a rant about how lousy a driver Mark Webber is.
“In comparison with Seb’s rising form, it seems to me that Mark’s form somehow flattens out…Red Bull puts him in a car – a possible winner – and suddenly along comes this young kid and he snatches the booty from under Mark’s nose,” said Marko.
The advisor then went to say that Mark Webber has about two races every season where he really shines, then performance drops to below par.
“[Webber] has on average two races per year where he is unbeatable, but he can’t maintain this form throughout the year…as soon as the his prospects start to look good in the world championship, he has a little trouble with the pressure that this creates”.
Working under pressure is also something that the Aussie driver is not very good at, says Marko. “If some technical mishap occurs…he falls relatively easily into a downward spiral,’” argued Marko.
The Red Bull team would dothemselves a big favour and ask the good doctor to keep his opinions to himself. Especially since Mark Webber is only negotiating his contracts with Mateschitz personally…
Take no notice of Helmut… Anyone can see the man only has eyes for his own little trainee’s.. He can’t respect anyone else. Webber will not leave because of Marko, and Marko doesn’t control the team. What does amaze me is that Marko is allowed to keep making these foolish statements for team.. Why have RB not silenced him?
